Preliminary findings from municipal law enforcement indicate that significant alcohol consumption played a direct and contributing role in the young student's sudden and tragic death.
The deceased student was officially identified by the Orange County Sheriff's Department as Anthony Joseph Blas, a resident of Whittier, California. Blas had only just begun his higher education journey, having arrived on the Cal State Fullerton campus as an incoming freshman just a few weeks prior to the weekend gathering.
According to statements released by the Fullerton Police Department, the fatal sequence of events came to the attention of law enforcement officers shortly past midnight on Sunday. Police were dispatched to St. Jude Medical Center after an unresponsive 18-year-old male was dropped off directly at the hospital's emergency room entrance by private transport.
Upon his arrival at the emergency facility, hospital medical personnel immediately initiated aggressive, life-saving resuscitation protocols in an attempt to revive the teenager. Despite these intensive emergency interventions, medical staff were unable to restore his vital signs, and Blas was officially pronounced deceased inside the medical center.

Authorities clarified that the Greek organization properties situated along Teri Place, including the specific house hosting the weekend gathering, are entirely unaffiliated with Cal State Fullerton. Because these organizations operate off-campus and without official university sanction, they function outside the direct governance and administrative oversight of the university's Greek life regulatory bodies.
The heavy law enforcement presence on Teri Place during the early morning hours drew immediate notice and concern from nearby residents. Javier Colins, a neighbor living along the block, recalled observing numerous Fullerton police cruisers arriving to secure the surrounding area and interview potential witnesses throughout the night.
"It's terrible," Colins remarked to reporters while describing the distressing scene in the neighborhood. "I watched through the cameras... a lot of cops over here."
